Diversity and Belonging:
The process of creating an inclusive culture
Description:
This session will cover the steps to evaluate diversity and inclusion efforts, assess organization structures, and outline efforts to change the culture.
At the end of this session, participants will:
- Develop knowledge about the process of committing or recommitting to diversity and inclusion efforts
- Understand key terms trending in the field
- Think through how their organization prioritizes diversity and inclusion
The program addresses Change Management on the ATD Competency Model.
Jennifer McCary is the Chief Diversity and Belonging Officer at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). In her role, Jennifer oversees the Division of Diversity and Belonging, which includes the Office of Multicultural Affairs, LGBTQ+ Programs, TRIO Programs, the Center for Women and Gender Equity, the Center for Violence Prevention and Education, and the Office of Title IX. Prior to beginning at BGSU, Jennifer was the Associate Dean for Violence Prevention and Resolution, Title IX Coordinator, and Director of the Women's Center at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Education/Stone Sculpture at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in Bowling Green, Ohio and a Master of Arts degree also from BGSU in College Student Personnel.
Jennifer trains on the topics of civility and bystander intervention, unconscious bias, as well as Title IX.
