From Training to Massive Imperfect Action: The Power of Group Coaching to Accelerate Professional Development

Amy Salapski, Cambium Development Group, LLC

In a perfect world, training reinforcement includes coaching and on-the-job experiences. In reality, managers are stretched too thin to spend time coaching, and employees don’t recognize opportunities to enhance their learning through work assignments.  Incorporating group coaching into your learning program designs overcomes these roadblocks and fosters sustainable behavior change. Learn more through a group coaching case study that produced unprecedented business results and begin drafting a group coaching outline for one of your learning projects during this interactive session.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the objectives of a group coaching program
  2. Outline a group coaching program structure
  3. Summarize the key benefits of incorporating group coaching into learning program design

ATD Capability Addressed in this Session

  1. Developing Professional Capability: Instructional Design
  2. Developing Professional Capability: Coaching
  3. Developing Professional Capability: Evaluating Impact
IMPORTANT: This will be a highly interactive session.  To participate fully, please plan to join the Zoom meeting from a laptop or desktop computer instead of a mobile device to ensure you have access to all of the interactivity features that will be used during the program.   We will also be encouraging all participants to use their webcams for breakout sessions and activities.  Be prepared with a pen and notepaper to take notes and complete the activities.
