Generation Z in the Workforce

This session will define Generation Z and give insight into their characteristics, major influences, and perceptions of leadership as they enter the workforce.  Attendees will gain an understanding of the unique characteristics of Gen Z and be able to interact with current Gen Z workers through an interactive panel discussion.  Current Human Resource trends and challenges will be discussed, along with solutions for engaging Gen Z.

Dr. Lisa Kahle-Piasecki is an Associate Professor in the School of Business at Heidelberg University and teaches in the undergraduate and graduate management area. She received her PhD from the University of Toledo and holds certification as an Associate Professor for Talent Development. Her current research interests are in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the intersection of technology and the workplace, and Talent Development practices. She serves on the Board of Directors of WGTE of Northwest Ohio (PBS), and the Greater Toledo Area Chapter for the Association for Talent Development. She is a global educator, having lived and worked in multiple countries.

Jennifer Irelan is a human resource & communications professional that has worked in the training and development field for almost two decades as a manager, recruiter, writer, event planner, and educator. She is currently a Sr. Human Resource Generalist at The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium.  Prior to her position at the Toledo Zoo, Jennifer was the Sr. Human Resource Manager at American Frame Corporation and spent a combination of 22 years working and serving in a variety of roles within the offices of Admissions and Student Services at St. John’s Jesuit High School and Owens Community College.  Jennifer holds a master’s in organizational leadership from Lourdes University and a Bachelors of English with a concentration in writing from the University of Toledo.
