Our guest speaker this month is David Elser, a talented professional with over 30 years of experience in the transportation industry. He specializes in learning and development, working with employees from essential front-line workers to executive leaders. One of his most significant accomplishments is the fulfillment of a promise to his grandparents by authoring the book "Doing The Chores," which shares invaluable leadership and "smart" followership lessons from his upbringing on a small family farm in Northwest Ohio.

According to Dave, "Doing The Chores" tells a story about learning the basics for building a strong work ethic from influential leaders in my life - my grandparents. I call these fundamentals "smart followership skills” in honor of my grandpa. When he handed us a chore, he'd end with the phrase “... and be smart about it.” What he meant by this was for us to focus on doing the chore accurately, timely, and safely. My book’s lessons serve as a solid foundation for getting recognized, rewarded, and considered for an advanced role or leadership responsibilities

David holds a master's degree in organizational management and is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) by the International Coach Academy. He maintains notable certifications such as Certified Professional Talent Development (CPTD) by the Association for Talent Development and SHRM-CP by the Society for Human Resources Management. He currently resides in Coldwater Lake in Michigan. His proudest moment was delivering the commencement address at his alma mater, North Central High Schools in Pioneer, Ohio, in 2012. David's passion lies in inspiring individuals to think creatively about their personal and professional development to achieve their desired success.
